This is the title of the parallel event organized by the APG23's international office in June 16, 2016 from 10 to 11 in the IV room of the UN building in Geneva.
Next week it will start in Geneva the 32nd regular session of the Human Rights Council. Many topics will be discussed during the Council meeting (from June 13 to July 1), starting among others by the presentation of the reports of the Special Rapporteurs on the human rights of migrants, on human trafficking, and on extreme poverty international solidarity.
During this HCR, The Association "Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII" has organized for Thursday, June 16th a parallel event to promote the example of humanitarian corridors as good practice of international solidarity and replicable model by other States to prevent the loss of human lives and risks connected to the phenomenon of trafficking in human beings.
The event, which has received the co-sponsorship of Italian's premanent mission, of the Community of Sant'Egidio and the Catholic NGO Forum in Geneva, provides the intervention of the Apostolic Nuncio in Geneva - Mons. Ivan Jurkovic, the representative of the Community of Sant'Egidio - Cesare Zucconi, of the Plenipotentiary Minister - Min. Alberto Bertoni, the Independent expert on Human rights and International Solidarity - Ms. Virginia Dandan and Alberto Capannini representativ of Operation Dove (text of the speech) and a video testimony of refugees.
Operation Dove is present in Lebanon since 2013/2014 in a refugee camp just 5 km from the border with Syria and with its volunteers has shared the life of these people fled the war in Syria until they leave for the airport Rome Fiumicino collaborating on the field with the Community of Sant'Egidio, the Federation of Protestant churches and the Waldensian Table for the realization of this great example of international solidarity.
