Fraternity is our love for God addressed to our brothers and sisters. Our love of God is shown by our love for them. (1 Jn 4:20).
The sign that we love those who are the least is given by the love that exists between the members of the Community. Fraternity is a movement of the soul that makes the love we have in our hearts for God gush forth, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5) and because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).
Fraternity is arrived at through praying for each other, through mutual help and the fraternal correction that happens when one tells the other what is to be accounted for. Fraternity is also arrived at through being together, not out of trying to be good but because the Lord, in His design for love, has called upon is to walk the same path to sanctification. Fraternity and poverty alone make us relate to one another. Brothers and sisters have their cell group as a special place in which to talk, support and relate to each other.
