"We are a missionary community to be found everywhere, starting from Italy the Community’s birthplace and reaching the farthest corners of the earth." Giovanni Ramonda
The Pope John XXIII Community started life in Italy in 1968. In 1973 we opened the first family home in the Province of Rimini and then extended our work to many other Italian cities and regions. In 1983 at the request of Mons. Denis Dejong, Bishop of Ndola, to open a family home in Zambia we discussed what to do until, in August 1985, the first missionary group departed to open the family home in Zambia, the first overseas one.
We are currently spread all over the world, even if much of our work is still done in Italy.
Those departing on missionary duties become enriched in spirit and soul as they discover the wonders to be found in others. Our missionaries are a gift for the whole Community. The life of our many missionaries and support they give, in both administrative and planning terms, to the NGO Condivisione Fra i Popoli, have led to many projects and over 60 family homes outside Italy.
